Apple vs Google software battles goes on
Global sales of smartphones last year stands closer to a record one billion units. More than 79 percent of those units are run on Google’s Android followed by Apple iOS globally. Android based smartphones accounted for 785 million units sold in 2013 while Apple iOS units were at 153 million. While its share worldwide shrinking, Black Berry still accounted for 32 million units followed by 20 million units run on Microsoft.
Researchers find that while Android dominates the world, Apple is nibbling on its US market share. Apple iOS gained two percent share increase in 2013 in the US at the cost of Android. Android still accounts for more than 50 percent of the US market share with Apple right behind at its tail. Black Berry and Microsoft are two other operating systems far behind the two behemoths. Many think that Apple created the smartphone, iPhone, and perfected it before anyone else. While Android is a great software product, Apple iOS gets the niche when it comes to user friendliness, originality and popularity in the US. However, both are always trying to find ways to improve its software and the users are looking for better ways to use their smart equipment not just smartphones.
