Enterprise software giant, SAP
German multinational software company, SAP SE is the global leader in enterprise resource planning software that manages all aspects of business operations and customer relations. Founded in 1972, SAP AG is headquartered in Walldorf, Germany. Its annual revenue exceeds $24 billion and best known for its enterprise resource planning, application systems, and management. SAP is battling with Oracle and others for cloud computing prominence.
In the enterprise resource planning arena, SAP provides services including customer relationship management, product lifecycle management, supply chain management, and supplier relationship management. Additional services in governance, risk and compliance management; performance management and other products are also available from SAP. They are providing on-site service or service on cloud. For some time they primarily served Fortune 500 companies and due to immense competition from other similar services now they are forced to service medium and smaller companies. Its flagship software, customer relationship management (CRM) has over eight million customers worldwide.
The other software giant, Oracle is competing with SAP mainly in the enterprise resource planning area and to a certain extent in other areas. They are battling in courts as well as outside to resolve unfair trade practices and others and to capture market share.
